Live the "Best in the Midwest" Attitude
It’s one thing to say it, but it’s time for city council to deliver on the promise of Moline for all residents. We have the potential, but we need to start acting like the best, instead of looking for ways to make Moline smaller and cutting support for business and community services.
The inability to retain top talent and experienced staff, as well as the decision to operate at skeleton level staffing, has already negatively impacted residents and damaged the city’s reputation. We need to focus on recruitment and retention of the employees that make it possible to provide the community services and business support needed to return to our status as a “Best in the Midwest” city.
The residents of Moline should also have more opportunity to have a voice in the city government. As your Alderman-at-Large, I will seek out chances to meet with residents and civic leaders from all our neighborhoods, not just waiting for somebody to pick up the phone and reach out to me. I want to show up and help, bringing a voice to people who might not know how to make it heard. That’s what serving all Moline means to me.
